An unforgettable day in the Loire Valley. We will meet you at your hotel or the train station and drive along a picturesque valley to the château of Azay-le-Rideau, which sits on an island in the river Indre. You will experience this beautifully furnished renaissance gem with tales from Susan of historical intrigue.
There is a choice of charming restaurants for lunch in the pretty village that clusters around the château.
After lunch we visit the world-famous parterre gardens of the château of Villandry. We then return to your hotel, or the train station for your trip back to Paris.
Join us for an unforgettable Loire Valley experience. We'll pick you up at your hotel or the train station and begin with a scenic drive to Chenonceau, the iconic Loire château. Explore its opulent interiors and stunning grounds in Susan's knowledgeable company.
Next, we'll head to Amboise, where you can enjoy lunch at one of the charming restaurants at the base of the château walls. Alternatively, you're welcome to join us for lunch at an off-the-beaten-path workers' restaurant, hidden away from the crowds (weekdays only).
After lunch, a fully guided tour of the Château of Amboise covers Leonardo da Vinci's final years and his connection to the French court, before we return you to your hotel or the train station.
A thriving local market.
After picking you up at your hotel or the train station, we will visit the small medieval town of Loches, home to one of the best weekly markets in the area. As well as the market, which hosts many local producers and growers, Loches has a fine medieval château and royal citadel.
We will lunch in a restaurant that is a firm favourite with local farmers, after which we visit the château of Chenonceau for a fully guided visit of the interior and the magnificent grounds.
