The Loire Valley has always been a place where fine food and wine have been celebrated. The following tour combines a visit to the most famous chateau with meeting world class artisan producers.
To get into the right mood we start the day at a classic Loire Valley Chateau. Chenonceau is an iconic building with links to the most powerful women of the French Renaissance, and is an absolute "must see". After lunch we visit one of the last mushroom growing caves in the Loire Valley, where we take an underground tour. We then spend time with one of our favorite cheesemakers, who makes a range of goats cheese. On the way back to Tours we visit an independant winemaker who makes award winning still and sparkling white wine. We tour the 1000 year old caves with the winemaker or his assistant learning how wine is made, and finish with a tasting. The cost of this tour is €970(euros) for two people starting in Tours.
